WHY are we to study, know, and apply God’s Word in our daily lives?
To be equipped to actively and proactively combat the daily, hourly perpetuation of sin and evil that is enslaving, encasing devastating, debilitating, and is vigilant toward destroying EVERY person – even you and me – cursing future generations, and sending THOUSANDS EVERY second into eternity without hope… forever and ever and ever and ever…
At the end of this WAR there will be a winner and a loser. This war is a REAL LIFE, RAGING, SPIRITUAL WAR. If you are not already, I plead with you to take the Word of God, His commands, His principles, His promises very seriously. They are VERY relevant for YOU and ME right now, and ALIVE with power and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.
I plead with you to:
- listen, HEAR, and act on His divine TRUTHS, consciously and deliberately, minute by minute throughout your days;
- ‘STAND’ unmoving and firm on His principles and promises, with prayer always on your tongue; and
- be proactive toward impacting every person who crosses your path.
There are no coincidences – ever. Period.
Wherever you are on this earth at any given time, there is spiritual activity present and at work: the evil one warring against God who is warring on YOUR behalf and mine. We know the end of the story – God wins and His follwers with Him, but until that victory comes, YOU and I play a critical part in this spiritual war, whether we realize or not.
Our God is intricately and strategically purposed on OUR behalf . This war is the underlying current that dramatically affects every person in daily life. The Word states that the evil one, Satan, “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (I Peter 5:8) He references Satan as the ‘thief’ who “comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” (John 10:10) Who? What? Every person living and every good thing existing. That word ‘only’ indicates a very focused and diligent work against YOU and ME . That work against us never sleeps; it rages 24/7.
If you are a born-again believer, you have a RESPONSIBILITY to engage as warriors in this battle.
Whether we acknowledge this war or not; whether we understand it or not; whether we act upon it or not does not change the TRUTH that we’re immersed in warfare at all times, nor the TRUTH that the evil one is at constant, strategic work against us, nor the TRUTH that you and I are KEY PLAYERS, created for a PURPOSE:
- To bring others to Christ and equipment them as warriors.
You and I will be judged according to how we have and have not impacted the lives of others for the sake of Christ. It’s not solely up to the missionaries going abroad, the preachers in our pulpits, nor the teachers in our Sunday School classes. It is equally up to YOU and ME.
So, how are we to combat this warfare?
- GET UP and GET EQUIPPED – spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. God created you with these four fundamental aspects that makes the whole you, so each are important if we are to obey Ephesians 6:13-14, “… when you have done EVERYTHING to stand. Stand firm…” We’ll talk more about each of these aspects of our God-created being as we move into a larger portion of Ephesians 6.
- BE ACTIVE AND PROACTIVE toward God, rather than against Him.
“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.”
2 Corinthians 10:3-6
DO YOU GET IT? How very profound is this scripture truth and how relevant to our daily life – today. He’s telling each of us who are believers to GET UP AND BE ACTIVE IN THE BATTLE.
